Overview
For the typical working-class individual in Lagos, Nigeria, the stress of commuting kills productivity, increases burnout, and causes several health complications. This stress happens due to heavy traffic, scarcity of commercial vehicles, bad roads, accidents. Commuting in Lagos can almost be likened to an extreme sport because of the traumatic experiences and the psychological stress it exerts on commuters over time.
Project Team
I worked on this project with the Alta Labs Engineering team that I was consulting for and with time being a constraint, I leveraged their resourcefulness as much as I could. This collaboration enabled us to build two (2) very powerful MVPs which launched Shuttlers and helped them scale.
Challenge
I was contracted to design the MVP Shuttlers mobile applications for passengers and drivers. The task was to create well-designed and functional applications to serve the needs of its riders and establish the company as a trendsetter for similar transport services targeted at commuters.
Outcome
I designed a simplified and intuitive product that allowed passengers to track their rides in real-time, reserve seats on buses passing through fixed routes, and an electronic wallet that enables commuters to fund their accounts for a specific number of trips.
Results
Presently, Shuttlers has sold more than 500 million seats.
